What is a Barrister?
Barristers are independent, self-employed legal advisors and court advocates in the UK. They are members of 'Chambers' and provide specialist, objective legal advice. I am a member of 4-5 Gray's Inn Square.
Barristers differ from Solicitors, who are employed by law firms. Solicitors handle initial legal matters, then engage a Barrister for specialised advice or representation in court. As a Public Access accredited Barrister, I can accept cases directly from clients, often more cost-effectively.
What tasks can I do for you as a Barrister?
As a Barrister, I can provide a wide range of services to assist you, including:
- Offering early legal advice
- Negotiating and seeking settlement pre-issue
- Drafting correspondence on your behalf
- Attending mediations
- Advising and drafting documents for submission at a Court or tribunal
- Advising and representing you within arbitration proceedings
- Advising and drafting contracts governed by the laws of England and Wales
- Advising on the procedural formalities required before a Court in England and Wales
As I do not conduct litigation, I cannot go on the court record nor file and serve documents on your behalf. I can guide you on how to proceed, as a litigant in person, or collaborate with a Solicitor to execute these specific tasks.
Please contact me to discuss your specific needs and how I can best assist you.
How much will it cost?
Despite providing specialist and high-quality advice, my fees are very competitive and can even be less than those charged by a Solicitor in a law firm.
Unless an hourly fee is required, I operate on a fixed fee basis. When you instruct me, I will set out clear parameters of my instruction and the work I will do for you, within the fixed fee.
Please note that unlike a law firm, when you instruct me, it will only be myself undertaking the work, and your work will not be outsourced nor done by a more junior lawyer.
How can you instruct me?
You can instruct me through my profile page on 4-5 Gray's Inn Square or emailing my clerks and I. If you're not quite ready yet, I am available to discuss how I can assist via a free, no obligation 15 minute telephone consultation.
